Jock joined the BSAP in January 1947 after having served with the Royal Navy Air Arm during WW11. He first stationed in Bulawayo but transferred to Salisbury where he served mostly on urban stations in Salisbury. At the time of his retirement in February 1969 with the rank of Chief Inspector he was Salisbury Central's Station Inspector.
